Transition.
WOW. It has been a long time since I have been able to get a blog out there! I've had a lot of you reach out and ask when my next one is coming out - welp here it is. I am not even sure what I want to write about yet. I'm just going to go with it and see what happens. Sometimes thats the best way to get it done! I've missed this.
Maybe I'll catch y'all up on some new things happening in the Gilmore world! If you didn't see from mine or Sam's social media, we have moved across the country! We are now living in New Hampshire (is this even real life guys?!) Also, can we talk about this weather for a sec? 70 degrees everyday, can't even deal. After being in the 110's for 5 months, this is a welcomed break.
The past two months have probably been some of the hardest to get through. I could probably write a book on all of the different things we have learned, had to face, and overcame in these past few months. Looking back through it all, we have seen how much God was woven throughout all of the details. He gave us copious amounts of grace in the face of some serious hardship. I won't bore you with all of the dramatic details - just know that we are so excited for whats to come!
Sam has started his own business, and let me tell you, he is absolutely killing it. He has met all of his goals and then some. I am seriously so proud of him and his attitude through all of the transition. He wows me daily. Years ago, I prayed "Lord, grow Sam, let him step up as the leader of this family - speak to him, encounter him, show him your love...etc" The man that I see today is a different man that I knew a couple years ago. I learn so much from him constantly - his character and attitude naturally reflect the nature of Christ. He would say otherwise, but from seeing him behind closed doors, I am consistently amazed. Anyways, enough about Sam. It honestly grosses me out how obsessed I am with him. Freaks him out, too. lol
I guess one of the things I could hit on in this blog is about transition. When I think of the word transition - my mind naturally goes into what happens when transitioning during labor. All of a sudden everything switches in your body. You're in a completely different head space, your body starts shaking, its "go time". You don't know exactly what is coming but you know soon you will see your beautiful baby, so you take all your strength and allow your body to work and get. it. DONE. Well, that's how we feel the past two months have been - nothing feels stable, lots of stretching, working on seeing the promise to come. The time frame of transition is always unknown, it could take an hour of pushing like it did for Cyrus, or it could take 5 minutes like it did for Laynee. But you pray and ask for grace and peace to get you through it. This is where we are, bearing down - asking God to bring about the promise. We are so thankful to know that happiness doesn't come in a location, a house, lots of money - it truly only comes through satisfaction in Christ and knowing He is in control. When you can surrender to the transitional period and to what the Lord is orchestrating, it will come a lot quicker than resisting and begging for the pain to stop.
So theres my mini update on where we are at in all of it! We are so beyond thankful - we have been so well taken care of. Sam's business is flourishing so quickly. Our children are happy beyond words. Having family around has made all the difference. We feel supported, loved, and encouraged constantly. Things are good, real good.
If you're in transition - or feel like transition is coming, one tip I'd love to give you is - stay thankful. Every single day, list off the things you are thankful for, whether big or small, it doesn't matter. There is something about thankfulness that combats all negative feelings and will bring you into the next season with so much grace you won't even understand how you're handling it all so well. God comes through in thankfulness. I promise ya, I've seen it and experienced it!
Love you guys, thanks for reading my blog! Maybe now that we are all moved in I can get a couple more out soon.
